Best for
Large-breed dogs where you want a WSAVA-compliant formula from a different major brand than what you're already using
Skip if
Your dog has a specific health condition needing a specialized formula, this is a general large-breed maintenance food, not a therapeutic diet
Why we picked it
This catalogue's food picks have leaned heavily on one brand, and that's worth correcting with real alternatives, not just more of the same name. Purina clears the identical WSAVA manufacturer-trust bar as Royal Canin and Hill's: a qualified nutritionist, real feeding trials, published quality control, a genuine second option at the same rigor level.
What we like
- Purina is one of only four brands confirmed to meet all five WSAVA manufacturer-trust criteria, alongside Royal Canin and Hill's
- A different major WSAVA-compliant brand from the Royal Canin lines already dominant in this catalogue, real brand diversity
- Formulated specifically for large-breed joint and digestive needs, not a generic all-sizes recipe
What we don't like
- Large-breed general formula, not tailored to one specific breed the way some competitors' breed-specific lines are
- Premium pricing at this size compared to mass-market large-breed formulas
