Best for
Checking for fever at home before deciding whether a vet visit is urgent

Your pet will not tolerate a rectal reading calmly. Ask your vet for handling tips first
Why we picked it
Not marketed as a pet product specifically, but a simple flexible-tip digital thermometer like this is exactly what vets recommend for at-home rectal temperature checks on dogs and cats. Hicks is an established Indian medical device brand, not an unbranded import, so it is a more reliable pick than most novelty pet-specific thermometers on Amazon right now.
What we like
- The only reliable way to actually check for fever. A "warm nose" is not diagnostic
- Cheap, genuinely essential, most households don't own one
What we don't like
- Rectal use (most accurate) takes some technique and a calm pet
Evaluated against independent veterinary standards, not brand claims. You can see our full methodology here.
